What Pros Wear: Jose Bautista (Bat, Batting Gloves, Cleats, Glove, Sunglasses)
Jose Bautista is the rare athlete that has his own brand, and even rarer yet that he has a logo that two companies brand his gear with. His interlocking initials can be found on both his Marucci apparel and on his New Balance cleats.
Bautista’s been an ambassador for the brand, not only in the marketing sense but also on the field. He’s hit a lot of no-doubters with Marucci wood. This model is available, but he’s been swinging it with a different finish lately (see the feature photo).
Marucci is selling a glove as Bautista’s on-field glove, but these are slightly different than the batting gloves he’s been using lately, which don’t have the thin red/grey line (home/away). Either way they’re head-turners.
You can see in the feature photo that Jose is wearing the 4040v2 Mid cleats from New Balance, the new shoe to have in the MLB. The ones in the slideshow are Bautista’s actual on-field version, one that is unavailable to the general public.
Marucci Modified Trap
Bautista has made the transition from Wilson to Marucci in 2014, mimicking his pattern with Wilson, the Modified Trap (Marucci is calling it a T-Web). Marucci showed us three of these that Jose ordered in the pre-season, and it looks like he’s been using the Mesa-colored version in games:
Marucci hasn’t made a modified trap available to the public yet, but you can shop their other options here.
Oakley Fast Jacket XL in Exclusive Polished Fog/White
Bautista’s sunglasses are new and exclusive for 2014, in a Polished Fog frame that is unavailable on Oakley’s Custom Builder, though the Light Blue is a pretty close alternative. They do sell the Fast Jacket XL with a Polished Fog frame, but with different accessories.
As far as we know, Joey Bats is the only guy in the world with this elbow guard from Marucci. Anybody else know of one? Hit us up.
