Player Profile: David Wright
D. Wright wears the Wilson A2K named for him, the DW5, which he is holding in the photo below. You can purchase his exact model at the link above.
Have a real thorough look below:
Wright wears the sunglasses he’s wearing in the feature, the Gargoyle Rover flip-ups. They’re available at the above link.
Unrelated, but had to post this:
Despite the much-deserved ribbing he most definitely got in the clubhouse for that trainwreck, the commercial (and his 0.5% stake in VitaminWater) netted him $20 million dollars when the company was sold to Coca-Cola for $4.1 billion dollars in 2007.
Louisville Slugger Prime C243 Ash (other C243 models at that link)
Wright has been swinging the C243 Ash most recently, a change from the player-exclusive W310 he was using last we profiled him. The C243 Prime Ash is available as are several other C243s, an indicator that its one of the most popular turning models in all of baseball, not just professional (C271 and a couple others are up there to0).
Note: We were able to confirm with Louisville Slugger that Wright predominantly swings Ash, but has mixed in Birch in games as well.
In the past, Wright has swung the W310 you see below. We found a forum called Baseball Fever where “BMH” explains Wright’s bat model:
“The W310 is a model made for David Wright. It has a Mc69 handle (Brian McCann model) and a S318 barrel. The Mc69’s knob is a cross between a C271 and a M110. The closest model we offer in store line is probably the S318, it won’t have the flair in the knob though.”
Exclusive Nikes and Nike N1 Fuse (seen in the feature gallery)
Nike Air Huarache Pro (seen above in an exclusive colorway)
Wright is one of the pioneering pro ballplayers for Lizard Skins, a “Dura Soft” Polymer bat wrap that many pros have been seen using. Most recently, he’s been wrapping his C243 with a black Lizard Skin, available online.
Evoshield in Blue
As you can see in the photos above, Wright wears the blue Evoshield leg and foot guard religiously. (Also notice his Nike Air MVP Pro custom cleats)
