2011 Cy Young/MVP Justin Verlander wears a custom Rawlings PRO12M.

Verlander placed himself in elite company in 2011.  Winning both the Cy Young and the MVP, Verlander became the first player to do so since 1992, when Dennis Eckersley won it with 51 saves and a 1.91 ERA (doesn’t Mariano Rivera do that every year?).  Verlander is the last Starting Pitcher to do so since Roger Clemens in ’86 (24-4, 2.86 ERA, 238 Ks).  Verlander shared another rare feat with Clayton Kershaw in 2011, becoming the first pitchers to win the pitching “Triple Crown” (wins, ERA, strikeouts) in the same season since Walter Johnson and Dazzy Vance did it in 1924!!!  If you’re a fan of pitching, you have to be thrilled about the guys that are just entering their prime right this moment.

Verlander wears a custom Rawlings Heart of the Hide PRODJ2 glove.  UPDATE: WPW reader Carson was kind enough to help us out and let us know that Verlander’s glove is actually a Rawlings Heart of the Hide PRO12M, slightly different than the PRODJ2, and is available online.

Watch Verlander’s mechanics (video below) and you will see where he gets his 100 mph fastball—his legs.  That’s the number one reason the guy was able to throw 250 innings worth of 2.40 ERA baseball, and make it seem like he was flirting with a no-hitter every time out.  His legs are his power, not his arm, and that’s what makes him so consistent and so durable.  On his feet, Verlander wears Reebok Vero IV cleats in black and white.  These are very much available online.

We also found Verlander has his own Phiten necklace, the X30 Fireball, which Phiten calls “an expression of speed and power.”  Verlander is expressing plenty of speed and power in the form of a 103 mph fastball and a devastating breaking ball, but whatever works.

You will not believe what Verlander eats for dinner the night before every start.  Check it out, below.

Great bio, Verlanders glove looks just like the HOH pro12m but if you go on the Pro Advisory staff page it says he uses a pro mesh Pro preffered.
